How SCLE Works
SCLE is flexible to work with most all class sizes, with individual players in classes of 10 or less and teams otherwise. Each team is assigned to play either a manufacturer or distributor, typically three and seven in number, respectively. Once teams are formed, the class participates in three simulation phases.
SCLE Express is also available bundled in our training offerings, featuring a simplified simulation environment, while still preserving key learning objectives. SCLE Express makes use of five teams.
In the first phase, participants have an opportunity to assess the market and select the parameters that define their company. Parameters include everything from capacity and security to labor policies and marketing budgets. Each participant must accept trade-offs between risks and direct costs in defining the unique character of their company.
In the negotiation phase, each team must plan and execute a negotiation strategy. Teams begin with assessment activities, where they develop a negotiation weighted scorecard for each of their potential partners. Teams then negotiate with each other, and sign contracts for sale of goods. Participants have a wide range of contract options to determine, including duration, penalties, order minimums, and product characteristics.
Actual Simulation Stage
The final phase is the actual simulation. In this phase, teams go day-by-day through an entire year, responding to events. Each day lasts approximately 30 seconds. No action is required for any given day, but teams have the opportunity adjust policies to the adapt to changing conditions. A break is taken after six months so that teams can renegotiated and sign new contracts.
